Each Cairn Candle is carefully crafted to give you the best possible burn and fragrance experience. Following the guidance below will help you enjoy your candle safely and ensure you get the absolute most from it.
Please read this information carefully before lighting your candle.
First Burn
When lighting your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for 2–3 hours, or until the melted wax pool reaches the edge of the container (glass or tin).
This helps to:
- Prevent tunnelling
- Ensure an even burn
- Maximise the life of your candle
Wick Care
Always trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn
A trimmed wick helps maintain a steady flame and reduces smoking
Burn Time
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time
Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting
Candle Safety Information
For your safety and the safety of others, please follow these important guidelines:
Never leave a burning candle unattended
Keep candles out of reach of children and pets
Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles
Do not burn candles on or near anything that could catch fire
Only burn candles on a level, stable, and heat-resistant surface
The container (glass or tin) may become hot during use – handle with care
After burning, allow the candle to cool fully before moving it or replacing the lid
When to Stop Burning
Extinguish the candle when approximately 5mm of wax remains
Do not relight the candle once it has reached this point
This helps prevent overheating of the container and reduces the risk of damage or injury.
Important Notes
Never move a candle while it is lit or while the wax is liquid
Do not extinguish candles with water
Always use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame
By following this care and safety advice, you can enjoy your Cairn products responsibly and safely.
